Napoleon Hill’s philosophy in Think and Grow Rich shows people how to achieve success and wealth through their thoughts and dreams. Inspired by a suggestion from Andrew Carnegie, Hill’s books have sold millions of copies since they were written during the Great Depression.Andrew Carnegie and Napoleon Hill met during an interview that Hill was performing. Seeing promise in Hill, Carnegie commissioned him to conduct interviews of five hundred of the most famous and successful people of the time. In doing the interviews and gathering the information, Hill started to notice a common theme among all of these people.
These interviews were the basis for a course of study he called “The Laws of Success.” This later became a home course, and ultimately ended up as his book, “Think and Grow Rich.”
By mixing your thoughts with a drive to achieve, faith, and an imagination, you can have whatever you desire. Thoughts are our most powerful possessions and are derived from the people and things around us. Then, by using the positive forces of our thought, we can turn our dreams into goals.
In “Think and Grow Rich,” it states that there will never be a right time to start anything. Instead, you should start working for your dreams now, using what tools and resources you already have at your command. By realizing that you deserve what you want, and using the power of thought and motivation to achieve your goals, you will soon have all the wealth you could ask for.
The world of self improvement has been rich with the same ideas and perceptions throughout the years. In “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill specifically lays out thirteen principles that people have actually used to go from broke to loaded in short amounts of time.
The principles include nothing that involves negativity or selfishness. If a transaction does not benefit all involved, then it is not worth making and should be revised or avoided. According to the philosophy laid out in Think and Grow Rich, the first step to personal wealth is to eliminate the negativity in our lives. These thoughts are believed to be what keeps people from obtaining success and wealth.
The secret to personal success and wealth is not actually spelled out in the book. Hill believed that to be truly successful, people must figure this out for themselves. He does however lay out the foundation and the steps to gain the knowledge needed for each person to find the secret themselves.
