What is the power of positive thinking? Is there any scientific basis for believing that thinking positively is actually beneficial? That really depends on which scientists you ask. Quantum physicists are more likely to say “yes”. Of course, it’s only a theory, but many people have seen it work in their lives.
"I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore choose life…"Deuteronomy 30:19
First, you must start with gratitude. Rather than just thinking about what you want, think about what you have to be grateful for. Think about a homeless person and how lucky you are to have a roof over your head. Think about your spouse or your children and how lucky you are to have them.
Gratitude is sometimes a difficult thing to master, especially for people that are unhappy with some aspect of their lives. But, you need to remember that being happy does not necessarily mean being complacent. If you don’t have everything that you want in your life, then don’t give up on ever having it.
The science behind thinking positively has to do with the “law of attraction”. Our thoughts send out electric or magnetic impulses. Doctors can see those impulses during an MRI or magnetic resonance imaging. Anger, pain, love, happiness and other emotions register on an MRI.
The theory that concerns the power of positive thinking is that the law of attraction states that like things are attracted to each other. The electrical or magnetic impulses sent out by our brains attract like things.
Although some doctors and scientists might not agree that having gratitude is important, most all of them have seen some medical miracle that cannot be explained. Prayer and the power of thinking positively are now a big part of alternative medicine.
No one can explain why prayers are answered. You can think of it either from a spiritual or a scientific standpoint. Nearly all religions have some concept of “ask and receive”. They ask the spirits or Gods for something that they want.
To a person with no religious beliefs, the idea might seem foreign, bordering on superstition. But, from a scientific standpoint, it makes sense.
Sending out thoughts of gratitude and love, just smiling, instead of frowning, creates a flow of positive energy. Remember that like things are attracted to each other. So, using the power of positive thinking to surround yourself with a circle of positive energy will help you attract positive things into your life. It’s a principle that has been used by millionaires and successful businessmen for generations.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein
