Suggestions for Financial Goal Setting

SBI! CTPM Process

Financial goal setting involves looking into the future and visualizing how you would like for things to be. But, the very first thing that you need to do is to count the blessings that you already have.

It’s not about being satisfied. People that are satisfied with their situations fail to grow. It’s simply about being grateful.

Being grateful makes you feel more positive about yourself and your life. Those positive feelings attract good things. In other words, you could get exactly what you want, without trying so hard.

No matter who you are or what situation you are in, there is always something to be grateful for, even if it is only to be alive. If you cannot be happy about being alive, you might need professional help.

Other things to be grateful might include children, family, clothing, food or the basic necessities of life. Psychologists say that people must have their basic needs satisfied, before they can try to achieve other things.

Love is a basic need. Some people think that it takes another person to give them the love that they need. Actually, everyone is capable of loving themselves. We all have the love of God, too, regardless of what our beliefs are.

Visualizing is a part of financial goal setting, because it helps you to be specific about what it is that you want. If you want $100,000 in your checking account, you would take a few moments every day to visualize that number in your checkbook balance. Visualization helps create positive thoughts and improves your chance of success.

Take the time to write down what you are grateful for. Write that $100,000 in big numbers on the page. Then write about how much of that money you will give away.Any millionaire will tell you about the importance of giving. “As you give, so shall you receive” is a biblical quote, but it works, whether you believe in the Bible or not.

Giving away money might not seem like an important part of goal setting, but it doesn’t have to be money that you give away. You can do volunteer work and give of your time. You can spend more time giving love to your spouse or kids. You can adopt a mutt from the pound. There are hundreds of ways that you can give.

There are specific details of financial goal setting that include monitoring your progress. But, before you get to that, you need the right attitude.
